What does DSS and LSS mean?

The DSS refers to door (show) status, the LSS is lock (show) status.

When should I use DSS?

If you want to know if the door is closed you need to use DSS, this will alert the access control system that the door is in the open position.

When should I use LSS?

If you want to know when the magnet is locked you need to use LSS, this will alert the access control system when the magnet is not magnetised.

What is the current draw at firing?

Approx. 1.3 amps

What maintenance do you recommend?

This strike should be checked every 6 months to ensure it is working correctly. Take a look at the power supply, wiring and general state of the strike ensuring it is free from debris.

Can this be fitted to an exposed external door?

Due to the way the cable goes into the top of the lock via a plug it would be very easy for water to egress through this and cause the lock to fail. Although they are coated, the armature plates over time would rust and therefore stop the magnet magnetising. The Vortex has been designed for internal use only.

Does the Vortex come set as 24V?

Yes, the jumpers come positioned to 24V factory set, this can be easily changed by moving the jumpers to the 12V positioning as shown in the installation instructions.

What does each LED colour mean?

Red – powered and unlocked, Green – powered and locked, Orange – cable/power issue

What are the benefits for using the security version brackets over the standard?

Correct alignment is vital to maintain the Vortex’s high holding force . The main benefit of the GS400L and GS2400Z&L is the infinite adjustment they offer, meaning you can align the lock exactly where you need it and if there is no power when you install the lock you don’t have to guess where the lock should be fitted as you can return and adjust or re adjust the lock position at any time- very simply and quickly whereas the standard brackets need to be fitted in the exact correct position and adjustments are more labour extensive. Is this product fire rated?

I cannot find the cables in this product?

Unfortunately, we find the cables for this product are often thrown away! Please double check your packaging, these are enclosed in a cardboard sleeve.

My LED is not changing status, what can I do?

Firstly, if you push on the door and the door changes status this shows the door is out of alignment. If this has no affect, check the power supply is 2 amp per magnet. After this if the issue is still occurring we would advise to check the wiring against our instructions and that the jumpers are fully in the correct position.

The pin has been removed, how do I put this back in?

With the spanner supplied with the unit you will need to take the pin housing off to replace.

The pin has gone missing, can I get a spare?

Yes, we offer a box of spares for this product which includes the pin. The code you require is a HKPS2400.
